Overview

Lossie Seafoods is a Scottish-based seafood producer and part of the Associated Seafoods Group, operating energy-intensive chilling and processing facilities year-round to supply high-quality seafood products across the UK.

Two Blues Solar partnered with Biosus Energy, at Lossie’s Arbroath factory to deliver a 293.94 kWp rooftop solar PV system across two buildings. The larger system, comprising 573 modules on the main production building, is supported by two 100 kW Solis inverters. A secondary system of 66 modules serves a separate unit on its own MPAN with a dedicated 30 kW inverter.

The project is delivered through a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement, giving Lossie Seafoods low-cost renewable electricity with zero upfront capital investment. Both systems are expected to achieve near-total self-consumption, cutting carbon emissions by approximately 38 tonnes each year.

Food production is a great use case for on-site solar. Sites often have high refrigeration requirements which means solar generation is well matched to what the business uses. A fully funded model removes the barrier of upfront capital while also accelerating sustainability goals

Rachel Stark, Commercial Director of Two Blues Solar.

Our Process

The two systems were specifically designed around each building's distinct demand profile, with separate PV systems on different MPANs ensuring each roof serves its own building efficiently. Biosus Energy delivered the installation across both buildings within a 6-week programme.

Lossie Seafoods continues to receive ongoing asset management support from Two Blues Solar, including live generation monitoring and regular performance reporting.
