ForFarmers is a global supplier of complete feed solutions for the livestock farming industry, committed to enhancing farm profitability and sustainability. Headquartered in the Netherlands, its mill at Newcastle-under-Lyme is one of numerous sites across the UK.
Two Blues Solar has commissioned a 165 kWp system at ForFarmers’ milling and distribution site in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Two Blues fully funded the solar installation, as well as re-sheeting the roof of the warehouse prior to installation, packaging this into a single solar PPA rate for ForFarmers.
The system will generate c.146,000 kWh of solar energy for ForFarmers each year, amounting to c.33 tonnes of carbon savings per annum. As part of our long-term relationship with our clients, Two Blues will continue to fund and manage the operations, maintenance and reporting of the system on behalf of the client.
Craig Rogers - Regional Operations Manager, ForFarmers
Having met with ForFarmers’ senior team to understand priorities, Two Blues designed a system for the warehouse onsite, avoiding the roof of the mill which ForFarmers preferred to keep free.
Our chosen installation partner for this project was Photon Energy, who underwent an electrical review of the site to design a long AC cable run to connect the warehouse system with the mill’s distribution board.
We worked closely with the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to ensure the system was designed and sized to meet local regulatory requirements, managing the whole process on behalf of ForFarmers.
