- UK-Wide Roll-Out
Marston’s plc
Marston's plc is a leading local pub operator with an estate of 1,334 pubs nationally comprising managed, partnership, tenanted and leased pubs.
Phase 1 of its funded solar roll-out consists of c. 120 pubs across the UK and will make a significant contribution to its 2040 Net Zero targets.
Project overview
Two Blues Solar has partnered with Nuvolt and Finlight (formerly Atrato Onsite Energy) to deliver an extensive solar energy rollout for Marston’s pubs across the UK. This collaboration is part of a long-term initiative with plans to install fully-funded solar systems across the Marston’s portfolio of local pubs at a rate of c. 10 sites per month.
The project will reduce energy costs and carbon emissions for Marston’s and is funded through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). it will provide the UK-listed pub chain with low-cost solar energy at each site, with no upfront capital required.
“We’ve been looking for a scalable solution to help our pubs transition to renewable energy while reducing our total emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. Self-funding a nationwide rollout on this scale and at this pace would not have been possible alone, but this partnership has given us this.”

Our process
At each site, TBS are working with Finlight to fully fund the solar installation and ongoing maintenance of the system, providing solar energy to Marston’s at a PPA price lower than their market energy rate.
Successful installations have already been completed by Nuvolt across multiple key sites including the Paisley Pear in Brackley and Bure Farm in Bicester. Each installation is completed in 2-3 weeks with minimal disruption to operations onsite.
Utilising the PPA model, Marston’s can efficiently roll out solar energy solutions without the need for upfront capital investment or significant internal resource. This partnership facilitates Marston’s transition towards greater energy independence and sustainability, contributing directly towards its 2040 Net Zero targets.
